"Internal Komodo Error" on Komodo 9 Launch

Hi. I’ve been using Komodo 8 for awhile and I just bought Komodo 9 Personal today. I installed it (Mac OS X latest everything) and immediately got an “Internal Komodo Error” dialog. It says I can help make Komodo better by reporting it and it says to “please include the following text”, but that text box is empty.

If I click “OK”, the box just reappears. I must’ve tried 100 times, and nothing. I had to quit from the dock.

I restarted it and it was ok, but man… it seemed slow… much slower than Komodo 8. Everything my system was so slow I had to reboot. (I checked for memory use, processes, CPU… nothing looked out of the ordinary.)

So I rebooted, but now I get that error again and even restarting Komodo doesn’t fix it.

I just popped into these forums right now and saw the link to the nightly build and I installed 9.0.1, but that doesn’t fix it either. So Komodo 9 is unusable for me. Any ideas on what to do next?

Here’s an image of the popup. The small empty box on top appears when I choose “quit” from the Komodo menu.

Could you post your error log? Help > Troubleshooting > View Log File.

I just opened up Komodo 9 again to see if I could access this menu. (I was thinking I wouldn’t be able to since that error window popped up and the only menu item available was the “Komodo” menu. Anyway this time Komodo actually started up no prob! I have no idea what changed. I tried opening / rebooting / etc. so many times the other day…

Anyway I looked at that error log but it looks like it’s only the most recent launch, so I think whatever was happening before was lost.

So at this point I guess it’s ok? I’ll grab and post that error log if it does this again.

Thanks @aclark, that helps a little bit but not enough to narrow down the problem.

If anyone has the problem again please copy your error log before restarting Komodo, you can find your error log (pystderr.log) here.

I don’t know whether this was actually the solution, but I deleted ~/Library/Application Support/KomodoEdit/9.0 and things ran okay after that.

I am having the same issue. It occurs whenever I restart Komodo IDE 9. (Note: I also migrated from Komodo IDE 8 as mentioned by original poster.) Below is a log. I force quit the app to get going again and make sure to not allow Komodo to restore previous windows/documents; otherwise, the same error occurs.
